Onyx Wellness Period Tracker
We are excited to announce the launch of an innovative digital wellness app designed to empower young women across Ghana and Africa in managing their reproductive health. Now available on Android and iOS, this app is the first of its kind to offer a localized, culturally relevant solution for women aged 15 to 49, addressing some of the most pressing challenges in gynecological health.
The app’s first feature—a menstrual cycle tracker—gives young women the tools they need to better understand and manage their reproductive health. Unlike global health apps designed for Western audiences, this platform has been tailored specifically for African users, providing locally relevant information that aligns with their cultural context.

Why This App Matters

In many parts of Africa, reproductive health challenges like lack of access to sanitary products, misinformation, and insufficient education prevent women from leading healthy, empowered lives. According to UNICEF, 1 in 10 girls in Africa misses school due to menstruation-related issues, leading to educational setbacks and limited future opportunities. This version of the app is designed to address these issues by helping women track their menstrual cycles, predict fertility windows, and gain personalized insights into their health, giving them the power to make informed decisions.
However, this is just the beginning. While the first version focuses on menstrual health, we have plans to expand the app’s capabilities in the coming months. Future updates will include an AI-powered education chatbot for real-time health support, a community forum for women to share experiences and advice, and an integrated shop offering essential products like sanitary pads and supplements.

Coming Soon: Educational Quizzes for Empowerment

One of the most exciting features in development is our educational quiz system. This future addition will allow users to earn points by completing quizzes on reproductive health topics. These points can be redeemed for products like sanitary pads in the in-app store. By integrating learning with access to real-world essentials, the system will encourage users to engage with educational content while helping solve practical health challenges.

Committed to Free Access—But Seeking Partnerships

Recognizing that many of the women we aim to reach cannot afford to pay for premium services, we are committed to keeping both the basic and premium features of the app free for all users. This is a core value of our mission, ensuring that no one is left behind in accessing critical reproductive health tools.
Currently, we are actively seeking partnerships with donors, corporate sponsors, and organizations who share our vision of improving women’s health in Africa. Although we have yet to secure partnerships, we are confident that with the support of like-minded organizations, we will be able to maintain the free, high-quality service that our users deserve.
For potential partners, this is an opportunity to make a direct impact on the lives of millions of women by supporting an app that provides much-needed health resources, educational content, and access to essential products.
